Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
Eaton Corporation located in Milton, Ontario,
Canada has an opening for an Environmental Health and Safety Champion.
Job Duties:
• Provide leadership and management for all Environmental
Health & Safety related systems.
• Actively solicit and train employees on site-wide health
and safety objectives including Eaton Corporation's internal Management
of the Environment, Safety, Security and Health guidelines.
• Identify new objectives, areas of improvement, activities
and guidelines relative to effective safety programs and processes
including implementation and training for all employees at all
levels of Environmental Health & Safety systems.
• Establish and maintain policies, practices and metrics.
• Drive the continuous improvement of all Environmental
Health & Safety related activities by facilitating effective
preventative/corrective action.
• Develop and mentor team members across the organization.
• Act as the Environmental Health & Safety Management
Representative for all end/3rd party certifications.
• Represent the company on the Joint Health and Safety and
Ergonomics Committees.
• Actively provide ergonomics training and improvements
across the workplace.
• Review and participate in investigation and reporting
of workplace incidents.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and lead the implementation
of new or enhanced initiatives related to Environmental Health
and Safety needs for the near and long term.
• Direct the review of internal project Health & Safety
Plans, policies, etc. communicating regularily wil stakeholders
and staff, responding to emergency situations and accidents and
developing programs to reduce the frequency. Communicate regularily
with corporate functions and managers to assure that we are meeting
their needs, and delivering Health and Safety support and services
including training, hazard assessments, inspections and audits.
• Ensure the organization complies with local laws and regulations
as well as accepted best practices.
• Liaise with external regulatory, advisory, certification
and registration bodies. Front line contact and communication
with the Ontario Ministry of Labour for any work order activity
and timely closure.
• Participate in any new technology or equipment purchases
to ensure safety requirements are exceeded.
• Adhere to ISO 9001:2000 quality procedures/work instructions
and actively participate in the quality improvement process. Apply
ISO 9001:2000 procedures to manage Environmental Health &
Safety Standards.
• Actively maintain a positive commitment to the prevention
of pollution and protection of the environment by following ISO
14000 environmental procedures, work instructions and other operational
controls.
• Ensure the requirements of ISO 14000 and all relevant
Environmental Health & Safety legislation are met.
• Pursue and implement the Eaton Values and Philosophy Statements.
• Manage the internal audit programs.
• Collect, analyze and publish applicable data.
• Ensure the integrity of all documentation.
Education:
• Post-secondary education in a related field (Bachelor
Degree preferred).
• Have attained Canadian Registered Safety Professional
(CRSP) certification.
• Environmental Health & Safety Auditor training is
an asset.
• Computer experience using MS Office
package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Highly effective leadership abilities.
• MS access an asset.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational
skills.
• Strong training/mentoring skills.
Experience:
Three years direct responsibility for an Environmental Health
& Safety Management System in a manufacturing environment.
